This Saturday (Apr 11), we will be hosting a series of simplex nets in the morning, in conjunction with an exercise that the LDS Portland Region ERC group is holding. The goals of the exercise are to get people operating, work emergency power sources (you're strongly encouraged to go off-grid for this one), to practice very basic information handling, and to test propagation between different locations on the various bands.
Please note that if a net needs to run long, the next net may delayed. Free-for-all Report Format: Call sign, First Name, location Local Report Format: Call sign, First Name, location ("home" or specify other location), power source, power output in Watts, antenna description I (and others) will be recording the signal strength / readability of each transmission. Regional Report Format: Stake, Ward, "Individual", First Name, Call sign or County "County", "Individual", First Name, Call sign You do not have to be a member of the LDS church to participate in the regional net. Many non-members actively participate in LDS EmComm with the church units whose geographical area they reside in. (The church provides a very convenient geographical organization for emergency response). Others just like to check into the net! Listen-only Nets: In addition to the nets listed above, you may wish to listen to other nets that will be passing aggregated information from the local nets to the region, and will not be taking time to invite check-ins from individuals.
Please feel free to record Signal Reports on any of Saturday's nets and send them to Charles, AD7UF. See you Saturday! The next regional exercise will be the morning of October 10th. |
